I talked to Morning Report on Radio New Zealand this morning about the launch, what went wrong, and what it means for the future of Buzz
Free applications from the Android Market have been available since at least day one of the HTC Magic release in New Zealand. Apparently local currency conversion has stopped paid applications up until now. Today, our dedicated Android forum member, Rob, has just posted a note saying that paid apps quietly appeared last night. I guess [...]
(If you just want the quick version, skip to the decision code) Pricing has now been revealed. Vodafone wants $1099 for the phone outright or $649 and below on a plan. This puts it within $50 of the 16GB iPhone 3G (not S). I know which one I’d choose. The launch party has been dated [...]
When I saw the Vodafone-branded, Android-based HTC Magic in the MWC coverage, I presumed it would be picked up fairly quickly by Vodafone here in New Zealand. Paul Brislen comments today in the Herald: I’m pretty excited about this. The new GPhone seems to have improved on the original, and is getting good reviews.
This morning Google turned on Streetview for New Zealand. This is a huge plus for me because I have an E70 and a Bluetooth GPS unit that I’ve been wanting to make use of the combo for some time.? Up until now there has [...]
In a somewhat unexpected move, Google has purchased Jaiku, one of the myriad online messaging/presence/mobile applications.? I imagine all the Twitter cool kids are wondering why they were left out.? As a long-time Jaiku user, I can say that I find the Jaiku paradigm and interface infinitely more useful than Twitter.? Jaiku provides some very [...]
Damn. I’m loving Google Reader. As a long time Bloglines user I’m quite happy with the new version of Google Reader. I’m finding the ‘river of news’ style presentation is letting me see a lot more stuff that I’d usually just skim over or mark as read when I didn’t have time. Why damn? One [...]
