I'm looking into buying a handheld GPS so i can try some geocaching.
Looking for something middle of the road with decent bang-for-buck.
The only ones i've seen around tend to be $500+ which is a little out of my price range at the moment.

I'd like to get everything i need (ie: incl any software i need to buy) for $300
I'm considering picking up a eTrex H
There is a bunch of new ones on TradeMe for ~$200

Is the only difference between the H and the HCx the colour screen?
Or was the H a generation before the HCx?
Here's a nice comparison of the different models. The H is quite restricted, and doesn't display maps.
Having said that, it will still work fine for Geocaching.
Does your phone have GPS? You might be able to get cheap software for it to display coordinates which is all you need for basic geocaching.
Hmm that's a touch average.
I would quite like it to display maps.

Hmm, i guess ill try hunt down a cheap HCx or one of the Oregon models.
I ended up going with a Dakota 20 because it wasn't much more expensive than the E Trex models while having some of the features of the Oregon models.
Should have it by the middle of the this week, should be able to get some serious caching in over the xmas period :)
Thanks for the all the help ben :D
