Update: The GSM version, the Motorola 'Milestone' has appeared on Vodafone Germany's 'coming soon' page.

This is funny: iPhone fanboy rebuttal to Verizon 'iDon't' ad.

In case you haven't seen it, Verizon wireless began their launch campaign for the Motorola Droid with an add obviously aimed at a certain competitor:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV--1rsi7V0&NR=1

So the response:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTtEeTuc1Hw&feature=player_embedded

Nicely tongue in cheek...

I'm hoping so, I gather the G1 won't be getting 2.0 over the air, but then most G1 owners seem to be uber-geeks anyway, so will probably hack something up.

One interesting thing on the Motorola Droid specs, it includes light and proximity sensors...that means all of the functions on the Tricorder app will work! Cool!

It's likely Google navigation won't be confined to the Android platform, so look out for it on iPhone as well.

The Droid with turn-by-turn is really, really piquing my interest. I do wonder what sort of bandwidth it will chug through though.

Here's hoping Vodafone keep on with their 3GB plans.

Will you be able to get 2.0 and turn-by-turn up and running on your magic?

Yeah, I've had to change the title of these posts, 'cos Motorola has released the 2nd of their Android smartphones, the 'Droid'. http://bitURL.net/?8e3n8r
(Apparently the noun 'Droid' is trademarked by Lucasfilm and Motorola -or maybe Verizon- has licensed the use)

Pretty cool looking phone and runs the same ARM Cortex processor as the iPhone 3Gs.

This is a big comeback ploy for Motorola, as Verizon has the biggest 3G network in the states.

The Droid is CDMA only at present, but I gather a GSM version has been submitted for FCC approval.

The other big thing in the Robot phone world is that the Android 2.0 SDK has been released (and the obligatory enormous fibreglass Eclair installed in front of the Googleplex)

Droid apparently comes with Android 2.0 and some new goodies from Google, including Google Navigation featuring Turn by Turn nav with Google Maps!

http://bitURL.net/?8rpe5y
