Video: Kitchen Gadgets

My kitchen is a temple to technology. Cooking is an adjunct, from which I find a reason to use the gadgetry available. I was pleased this morning to be able to share some of my latest acquisitions with Paul and Pippa.

Item: KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer
Price: $899
Rating: 5 / 5
Info: There are some things in life that you mustn’t compromise on. Chiefly your bed, your sewing machine, and your kitchen mixer – and perhaps your car if you must. The Artisan Stand Mixer has been an American icon since 1938 and is still coming off the production line today as it was way back then. Made entirely of cast metal and weighing a robust 11.3kg.

A direct drive 300w induction motor will handle batches of bread dough and batters with ease using the 10 speed solid state controls. The unique planetary action of the beaters ensures all ingredients are mixed quickly an evenly within minutes. Each machine comes equipped with a 4.8litre S/S mixing bowl with an ergonomic handle, dough hook, flat beater, wire whisk and a 2 piece pouring shield. 3 year replacement warranty on motor.

Item: Milly’s Vege Twister
Price: $49.95
Rating: 4 / 5
Info: How many kitchen tools do you own that are actually fun to use! Turn your veggies into spirals or spaghetti with a simple twist. Creates fun garnishes, and is ideal for adding crunch and texture to your summer salads. Use with cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, courgettes, radishes and much, much more.

It’s very simple to use, and a breeze to clean. Winner of the reddot design award, this is the perfect kitchen gadget for the person who has everything!

Item: Vacuvin Pineapple Slicer
Price: $27.50
Rating: 5 / 5
Info: On the grounds that each fruit or vegetable requires its own gadget, you must get yourself the Vacu Vin Pineapple Slicer. The Vacu Vin Pineapple Slicer is composed of two pieces: a shaft which is about 7 inches long and a 3-incle slicer /corer circle with teeth that is attached at the base, which cuts into the pineapple as you are twisting.

This award-winning slicer also makes perfectly-shaped pineapple rings. I was highly dubious at first, but am completely sold on this gizmo after a single use. It just works.

You missed one of the main attractions of the Pineapple Slicer. Once cored, score the inside to the shell to get the juice out then you fill it up with something bubbly !

YEs that pineapple shell was definitely missing something bubbly, a twisty straw and an umbrella!

The KitchenAid Ice Cream attachment is a must as well. I pretty much make up ice cream every few days – The latest batch is mascarpone plum ice cream.
