iPhone 2.0: A little bit meh

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

With the release of WinPwn, I excitedly pwned my phone. It’s mostly a principle thing.  I prefer to have a fully unlocked device that I can do what I want with.

I was also interested in having a look at the much-reviewed 2.0 firmware myself.  My main interest being the complete Exchange sync support via wireless Activesync.  It worked perfectly and I was reasonably impressed with the implementation.

I was however completely underwhelmed when I discovered that Installer doesn’t work at all on 2.0, and most of the custom apps (especially MobileScrobbler) don’t yet work on 2.0.  So yes, I was a bit meh about the whole thing.

I’ve downgraded back to 1.1.4, but am still pwned.  I’ll wait for the full release of 2.0, with all the custom apps from the App Store and/or full Installer support for native apps.
