New Zealand’s DMCA Moves Forward

Monday, December 18th, 2006

The New Zealand Copyright Amendment Bill had its first reading in Parliament last week, with the House voting like lemmings 113 to 6 to pass the Bill to Select Committee.  The Green party, not my favourite party by a long shot, were the only ones to use their heads and vote against the Bill.

Repeating my earlier post, if you’re interested in fighting this Bill (and by rights you should be), then you can make a submission to the Commerce Select Committee before the 16th of February 2007.  So go have a good summer holiday, then get your submissions in once you return to work.

Russell’s latest post on Public Address has some excellent reference material if you want to go digging into the guts of the bill.

I will have my submission in by February. I like your recap, I don’t think I will be diving into the gut of the bill ;)

  2. JC says:

Maybe someone would like to send this to parliament.
