iPod Photo

iPod PhotoGoddamn, sometimes living in a different timezone to the USA is a blessing, and sometimes it’s a curse. We woke up this morning to find that Apple had dropped the iPod Photo bomb all over the web. Still, as is our solemn duty, here’s a photo and some specs.

It’s basically your standard gen-4 iPod (same size, same click-wheel), with a 64k colour screen, and 40GB (US$499) or 60GB (US$599) options. The colour screen allows you to display stored photos, and also album art that might be associated with the currently playing track.

To spice things up a bit, I’m going to go on the record with Gadgetophile’s first ever prediction: the iPod Phone. Sure, it would take some huge cojones to raise the ire of Nokia (aka the 100lb phone gorilla), but you’ve gotta admit that phones are where the tech love is at the moment. And come on, can you imagine the geeky sweetness of an iPod Mini sized device, with a colour screen, 5-ish GB of storage (for mp3s and photos), and tri-band GSM? So yeah, in six to twelve months, if you see an apple-branded cellphone, I’m not going to be entirely surprised.

Sounds reasonable. Bang another board in there and make the iPOD 3mm thicker and there you go.

  2. Ben says:

Yep, although I just realised that ‘iPod Phone’ is not strictly correct, it would have to be called iPhone or iTalk or something.

  3. Stu says:

‘iTalk’…nice. You should tm that now and cut a sweet deal with Apple when they contact you.

  4. Ben says:

    iPhone or iTalk or something.
