Ultimate D&D Table

Monday, August 16th, 2004

Man, this is totally uber-geek! This guy designed a D&D table from the gound up. Including a fully kitted-out DM station, and pool-table-like ball return system for sending private messages to each player.

After listening to me for months about how I wanted the “Ultimate Gaming Table”, he offered to help me build one. I was really excited, as Ben is a fantasy artist, writer, and most importantly in this case, a finish carpenter. So, after a couple weeks of sketching, and lots of talking, we began improvising.

We didn’t have any totally firm plans, but instead built and planned it as we went. Figuring out the message delivery system (MDS) was one of the toughest things that we had to do, and much of the design had to work around that.
